Welcome to my blog!
By the way, what is a blog ? I have spent the last year working with people who are fascinated and thoroughly involved with Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, blogging, etc. At first, I found the new vocabulary and technology a bit odd, and not relevant to my life. Since I schedule every day to the nanosecond, I could not find the time nor the inclination to join any of these new social media sites. However, once my colleagues gained some ground on me, I knew I had jump in and have been taking little steps toward establishing my own presence on the web. My children who are light years ahead of me in this arena, have been relatively supportive of my steep learning curve, except for demanding that I not join Facebook and insist on being their “friend!” I may have been slow to join the cyber scene, but here I am; living proof that professionals over 25 years old can learn and master new skills.
I have had my website, AtlanticDivorceMediation.com on the web for five or more years. When my designer created it, I had to write pages and pages of “content.” It took me forever, and I did it in little bits and pieces. I wrote the same sections over and over because I kept having new ideas, or I just didn’t like what I wrote. My designer was quite patient actually, and after everything was in place, the site was live and looking good, I didn’t touch it again for years. I was happy with the way it looked and read, and despite constant, but determined, nagging from my web guy, I couldn’t get myself motivated to add content, write an article, or do any of the other myriad of suggested tasks that would improve and modernize my website. Eventually, my first designer resigned himself to my lack of industriousness.
Time moved on, and two years ago, I started to work with Brian Schwartz of Visibility Partners, who specializes in optimizing Collaborative Divorce Lawyer’s websites. The nagging started all over again. It took two years of working together to bring my website to the first page of Google and other search engines. I understand now the need to stay current and to share myself and my experiences with other like-minded professionals and prospective clients. Thus, with Brian’s coaching, I am starting a blog; what a silly word that is. Wish me luck!
